What a rush!

I am not sure if anyone is still reading these but I thought I would post one last post for this term. I have been very absent with posting over the last few weeks due to other assessment being due and getting very stressed and just forgetting to post my draft work. I am sitting here, still, at 4 O’clock in the morning writing this post with 7 hours until this assessment is due. What was I thinking?! My fingers are cold my neck is sore, I guess I will learn my lesson to get things started earlier and not put them off because of stress. Because putting of stress leads to lost time which leads to more stress and its just a revolving door that you can’t get out of. Anyway, I hope everyone else has had a great term and that everyone does fantastic on their last assessment piece for this term. I know I am ready to relax, with just a little bit more study for one last exam. So here are all the steps I have missed I thought I may as well just upload them all then its all there in one spot.

I thinks that’s all of the rest.

Thoughts on Restating my Financial Statement

Upon realising that to restate my financial statement I couldn’t just move the same figures over in the same order. Though now thinking about it that would be a little silly because it would have looked the same as the first financial spreadsheet. I struggled the whole time with deciphering what was financial and what was operating, though with the help of our Bundaberg lecturer John McGrath I was able to complete my restating. Once the financial verse operating were decided I found it very easy to transfer everything over by simply linking it to the original spreadsheet. I did also struggle with the tax section though once it was explained better in our class workshop this was easily dealt with. The biggest thing that I had trouble with was what each heading was going to be though working through it slowly in the workshops made it a lot easier to complete. I did also find that this step has taken me the longest by far of any step we have done in this unit. At two points throughout restating I did end up with figures that didn’t match and add up properly, this took so much time to figure out where the problem was and which figure I was missing; having to go back through every single figure in the incorrect section was so frustrating and time consuming, though once I found the mistake it just took a huge weight off. Overall, I found this step both easy and difficult. Deciphering which was financial and which was operating was difficult, as well as the tax section, and trying to find where mistakes were if my figures didn’t balance was just so annoying. Though I feel that using excel and linking everything from the first financial spreadsheet to the restated I found quite easy.

I hope everyone found their restating easy, though I know that most of us would have only done this for the first time and it would have been a little difficult. Did it take anyone else a very long time to complete this? Did anyone else have any mistakes that took them so long to recover from? How did you feel trying to find and fix the mistake?

Assessment Step 2

Hi everyone, hope you are all doing well. I know I am way behind on this I have just been so busy with other assessment an haven’t had a chance to get round to this until now. Any feedback would be very much appreciated, thanks. Also if anyone who reads sees that any of my explanations are incorrect please let me know, I will not get upset I just want to know if I am understanding the concepts correctly. Hope everyone’s assessments are coming along well have a great week 8 everyone 🙂

Week 5

I still can’t believe it’s week 5 already, though I am happy that assessment 1 is all done and over with. What a stressful couple of weeks already, even though I know that we still have to complete assessment 2. Am I prepared for that… no. But I will do as I did with assessment 1, step by step, I don’t want to rush because that leads to stress.

I was quite happy with the mark I received on Assessment 1 steps 2-6, I didn’t think I was going to get the mark I did. Though the past few days I have been hoping that I would get a good mark because when I do it gives me the confidence boost that I need to keep going. I was also quite happy with the feedback I received from my marker. How did everyone else find their marks and feedback? Good, bad, average?

Thanks for reading. Have a great week and I hope everyone enjoys their break week!

My Top Blogs

Over these past few weeks I have seen so many different blogs and just picking 3 feels like so many would miss out on feeling that their blog is someone’s favourite. Though I realise some have put in a lot more work and effort into their blog than others and for that reason my top three blog are:

At number three Cooking the books with Caity. This blog really appealed to me as I am a fan of cooking and the way that this blog is set out is fun and incising. Caity is very thorough in her research about her company and her KCQs are interesting and well set out. She is very relatable to me as she is in her early 20s and we seem to have the same look on life and experiences. She provides many pictures and diagrams with lots of colour, which makes her blog appealing to the eye. Caity’s use of Gordon Ramsey as the identifier of her blog leaves and impression and therefore cannot be forgotten. Here is a link to Caity’s blog https://cookingthebookswithcaity.music.blog/

At number two I have chosen The Balance written by Chris. This blog is always being update with new information whether it is on his company or on his progress with assessment and this is great. Chris also uses a lot of pictures and diagrams which represent what he has done in the writing. He not only provides information on the assessment pieces but also useful information to possibly assist outside of ACCT11059. Such as providing the viewer with information on creating healthy habits, an app to help us manage our lives in and outside of study and tips about WordPress. I also really like the picture at the top of his blog with the man balancing on the boat, it is very interesting and creative. Her is a link to Chris’ blog https://primedfinance.wordpress.com/

In top spot, first place, favourite blog is……. Being Held to Account written by Paul. Paul regularly updates his blog and keeps everyone up to date on where he is at. He again provides a lot of pictures which make his blog very appealing and interesting. I really like how Paul doesn’t just write this is my company or this is what my company does he rather uses phrases such as The company you keep and Studiosity did not kill the cat! I find these very interesting and I wish that I could come up with these sorts of things for my blog. On looking further into his blog, I also found he recommended looking at my blog for pointers which I really appreciate and it makes me feel like I am actually doing a good job if someone else is recommending my blog. Paul also posts a few selfies throughout his journey and this makes his blog very personal and it gives a better insight as to who Paul is. Pauls blog is very well set out and easy to navigate, is it interesting, personal and colourful, all things that to me make a very good blog, and that is why Paul is number one. Though I know everyone has probably been working super hard on their blogs and I appreciate every single blog I come across there could only be three and at this stage these three blogs are my personal favourites. Well done to everyone and I hope everyone does super well with their assessment though I know a lot of people are and will still be pushing until the end. Have a great week everyone, I hope you all do great!!!!! 🙂

Week 3 thoughts

Oh wow! I swear time just keeps getting faster and faster I can’t even remember what I did last week it just went so fast. All these assessment pieces are piling up and I am feeling a bit overwhelmed (I’m sure I have already said this somewhere) I am starting to stress as to whether I will get everything done. Though I know that I still have a bit of time and as long as i keep plodding along I should get it all done (fingers crossed). We are already mid way through week 4 and on Monday of next week, week 5, I know that our assessment 1 is due. From day one to now I think that I have already come so far, in starting this unit I was very concerned with creating a blog and interacting with others though now I am a lot more confident. I hope everyone has a fantastic week!!!

Thoughts on Studiosity

After sending through my assessment to Studiosity, I have both good and bad feedback. Well let’s start with the turnaround time, even though I know that I may in future be so eager to push forward with assessment that I may want it back in under 24 hrs it is still good to have access to something that gives feedback fairly quickly. Also the fact that I feel Studiosity will be very helpful in future when completing academic essays and I know that I will use them for this. However, for the assessment for this unit I felt they weren’t as helpful to me, this is because they were more looking at my assessment as an academic formal piece rather than as my point of view (I’m not too sure whether this was my fault? Maybe I didn’t give the correct information to them). So, although Studiosity will be a great tool for future assessment I feel that for this sort of assessment I just wasn’t given the kind of feedback that I was looking for.
